HIStalk Quotes

Trivial Announcements

posted 03/17/2004

It looks like the hosting company has fixed their upgrade-related problems, so hopefully we've seen the last of the "page not found" errors and slow-loading pages. I'm disappointed because this last couple of weeks has been hard on the site hits, but I'm confident it will pick up again. Well, not confident, but optimistic at least. Thanks for your patience. I saw some folks slogging through pages even when the response time was several minutes. That's dedication.

The usual reminders: you can search for anything on the site using the Search box to your upper right. Enter your e-mail address in the spam-proof Mailing List box to get updates when new content is added here (and one-click access to the new article.) And, don't forget our one and only sponsor Medicity -- click on their link to your left and check 'em out (and open up your bottomless corporate wallet to sponsor this site, if you're so inclined and are getting value from HIStalk, thus labeling your company as a benevolent and astute sponsor of a starving artiste.) And, if you can get this site listed either on high-traffic websites or in print to draw in new readers, help me out here with a bit of "viral marketing." I'm not seeing as many new readers as before and the only way to find HIStalk is through a Google search, so any help would be appreciated.

A couple of readers have promised to write "guest articles" for HIStalk and I'm looking forward to it. Would you like to do the same?
Send me your thoughts in whatever form you like (E-mail, Word document, hieroglyphics on a tablet, etc.) and I'll post them. Surely you have different information and opinions than I do, so don't be shy. If you want to be famous, tell me to print your name, or remain anonymous if you like.

Have you learned anything from reading HIStalk that gave you a substantial, unexpected benefit, either personally or professionally? I'm interested in knowing if the information and opinions here are useful (and used) in terms of real-life success. Drop me a line if you've got something to share.

Not related, but just so you get something from reading this article other than housekeeping announcements, a few job openings that I thought were interesting:

Medical software startup president
Nonprofit clinic group CIO
PACS regional sales manager
Manager of clinical systems
Assistant VP, clinical informatics
Hospital CIO
HIS regional sales managers
Regional VP sales, surgery systems
Hospital IT account manager
Hospital CIO
Director of ambulatory systems

What jobs are hot at the moment? From my experience and observation:

  1. Pharmacy system analyst
  2. Information security officer
  3. PACS administrator
