Interestingly enough, neither company has posted any news announcements to
their site. Thanks for getting the inside scoop!
Not surprising that they aren't talking about this. Very small part of
their overall business. Not much of a change. The only part that is
interesting is that it may show a change in Meditech's product strategy. As
much as they want to claim they are open and ready to interface the truth
is borne out buy those of us who've tried it with them. The words they say,
and the actions that take don't match.
Interesting development. Currious to see how the companies merge from a
cultural standpoint. PtCT has a decentralized model - remote sales people,
etc. MEDITECH has a very centralized model with all sales, support and
development out of their MA offices. I would not be surprised if MEDITECH
pulled all PtCT staff up to MA to fit into thier corporate staffing model.
The next question is whether or not the current PtCT staff would be willing
to move up to the Boston area - especially given the differences in cost of
living. Another interesting side note is that there are several
ex-MEDITECH employees who work at PtCT. Since MEDITECH has a policy of not
re-hiring ex-employees, I wonder if they will be welcomed back into the
fold?
The stance on not re-hiring former MT employees seems to have softened...
Its a welcome change since there is talent that has tried to come back over
the years and been denied..
Healthcare IT Strategist, an e-newsletter of Modern Healthcare, reported
today that Meditech did acquire Patient Care Technoloiges. This was
released by Meditech spokesman, Paul Berthiaume.
Why PTCT? The same argument can be used for the LSS relationship. At least
PTCT has a vision which they are moving forward...LSS can't even use the
restroom without the Meditech approval (or it seems).
